axiom: Data Required to Participate Important: You must have data in your contribute folder to meaningfully participate in Axiom. Without data, tasks run but submit zero gradients with no impact on the model. Please ensure your contribute folder is set up before expecting meaningful results. ????? |

The admin seems to only be posting on BOINCNetwork discord https://discord.gg/paPkTQH8 3 posts already but admin has changed to now require email verification. |

It looks like it is created by the project because I have done nothing and the folder excists and contains files.. However this folder should not be where it is placed but shoud be a (sub)folder of the project in the Boinc project directory. |

It looks like an initial message. I had none after that. |

In reply to STE\/E's message of 1 Feb 2026: So do we have to create this folder ? BIONC user name I'm assuming ?I was attempting to refer to your Windows user folder. The one that contains Desktop, Documents, and the rest. The project creates its own directory inside that location (likely after the first work unit). That’s where you can drop any files you want it to train on. I’m not entirely sure what the file limitations are, but the specific file type doesn’t matter much since everything is read at the bit level. The client also creates a subfolder there, which it fills with data slices from other hosts. Those peer slices run 15% of the time. If you don’t provide your own files, I assume the system dedicates 100% of its effort to peer data, but that's just a guess. |

In reply to Contact's message of 1 Feb 2026: In reply to STE\/E's message of 1 Feb 2026: If that is the concept of the project then I expect it will not be very usefull. I am willing to donate CPU time and have it run in the background. But if they expect me to feed it with data I have to provide they are in for a dissapointment. |

I do also have that Folder, and it was created after i connected to the project. It sits at the C:\Users\myusername folder which is not where i want to see BOINC projects store Data normally. Every project so far the last 20+ Years has had it's Data in the DATA Folder that I configured and I strongly recommend Axiom to also adhere to that rule. WUs consume from 100 MB up to nearly 5 GB of RAM on my Box, so i almost couldn't do anything anymore on that host when 32 WUs started working. Also limiting the number of WUS running at the same time doesn't stop them (or the name i used in the app_config file is wrong (message tab told me name of the application is axiom_worker). On Friday the WUs ran from ~30 to ~50 seconds, ended normally and resulted in 0.12 to 0.22 points each. Today i started the project again and all WUs are failing after 10-20 seconds with "output file missing". I do have 64 GB of RAM but that seems to not being enough for the project which is the reason I stopped the Project. If that is how the project utilizes my Computers Folder and the CPU and RAM then I'm out. Thanks. |

In reply to Henk Haneveld's message of 1 Feb 2026: It looks like it is created by the project because I have done nothing and the folder excists and contains files.. This is a violation of the BOINC contract with the userbase. Projects stay exclusively in their project folder under \DATA. BOINC app then manages the WU instance into a SLOT folder. |

In reply to aendgraend's message of 1 Feb 2026: .. I stopped all running WUs except of just 1 because the Computer was barely usable anymore. This one active WU is now consuming up to nearly 10 GB (sic!) of RAM, jumping in seconds from 3,5 to 9,8 GB. The App doesn't adhere to regulations of the BOINC Manager or my personal Settings (do not consume more than 80% of my RAM [when 32 WUs were running]) and it stores DATA out of the BOINC Data Folder. I'm stopping the project until this is fixed.[/img] |

This is the app_config.xml file I use when I just want to limit the number of tasks running by a project: <app_config> <project_max_concurrent>5</project_max_concurrent> </app_config> Change the number as needed but using a zero instead of a 5 in this example would let the project use every cpu core, this way I can run 5 tasks from this project, 3 tasks from that project etc until I run out of cpu cores on the pc. |

This is the app_config.xml file I use when I just want to limit the number of tasks running by a project: That is the same Code I used in my app_config.xml file, but the project wasn't just using the Cores I defined. Instead it started as much Tasks as my CPU has Cores. And the PC was unusable instantly after they started. That's not a Project, that's a mess.
|

And the PC was unusable instantly after they started. There may have been troubles limiting earlier versions of the app, but I can confirm that I am using app_config.xml with the new axiom wrapper app v2.76 to limit tasks to one at a time. |

Whenever you make a change in a config file it's the easy way to get Boinc to do what we want it to do. |

In reply to mikey's message of 5 Feb 2026: In reply to aendgraend's message of 4 Feb 2026: That is not relevant. The exe for a single task uses more than 1 CPU thread. |
