Is this project hosted by an University? A research center??

Probably the base url of the project, a coin exchange.

Axiom is an independent research project -- a distributed STEM experiment platform where volunteers contribute computing power to train a large AI model (17.8 billion parameters) using real scientific data. The project runs on the BOINC infrastructure to coordinate work across volunteers worldwide. Think of it as citizen science for machine learning. The exchange and Axiom are separate projects under the same team.

In that case, could you explain/clarify these statements?
Integration With Existing Infrastructure
This consensus mechanism is designed to integrate with infrastructure the author has already built:

1. Axiom BOINC (https://axiom.heliex.net) — A volunteer computing network with 97 active hosts running AI-designed experiments. The AI-judged credit system is live in production as of February 28, 2026. This is the "useful work" that generates consensus weight.

2. HeliEx (https://heliex.net) — A science-based cryptocurrency exchange currently listing Curecoin (Folding@home rewards) and Gridcoin (BOINC rewards). The Axiom token would be the third listing — and the first where credit is AI-judged rather than FLOPS-based.

3. Complete pipeline: Experiment execution → AI credit judging → token distribution → exchange trading, all operated by the same person who built the underlying systems.

and later
Timeline
Jan 2026: Axiom BOINC launched, distributed neural network training
Feb 26, 2026: Pivoted to AI-directed experiment container platform (v6.00)
Feb 28, 2026: AI-judged credit system live in production, first results collected
Feb 28, 2026: Conceived Proof of Useful Contribution (PoUC) consensus mechanism
Future: Token implementation, integration with HeliEx exchange

So not independent.

So, are we crunching on cryptovalues? I hope not.

Seems not.
The wus have names like "fibonacci_markov" or "langton_ant", so seems that have some scientific purpose...

Could someone from the project creator please answer this question clearly ?
Thank you very much !

Not crypto. Every cycle of compute on Axiom goes to running scientific experiments — things like Kuramoto oscillator models, sandpile dynamics, contact processes, Langton ant variants. The workunit names reflect the actual experiments being run. You can read the experiment scripts directly at https://axiom.heliex.net/api/experiments.php and the scientific findings at https://axiom.heliex.net/api/findings.php.

Regarding the PoUC document makracz found — that was a concept paper I wrote exploring how a science-based credit system could connect to a token model in the future. It is not implemented and no token exists. Right now the project is 100% focused on the science platform: designing experiments, collecting results, and publishing findings. The first paper came out last week on reactive mode localization in ecological networks.

HeliEx (the exchange) and Axiom are separate codebases. Axiom volunteers are not mining anything — you are contributing to distributed scientific research.

Thank you, that's exactly what I wanted to hear !
I'll continue with the calculations.

Are there specific university research groups or external scientists currently collaborating with the Axiom AI to use this data? I see there are many research findings already listed on the site, but I am curious to know if this data is being integrated into larger studies at other institutions, or if the AI is currently the sole researcher for these specific datasets.

Not at this stage — Axiom is a solo project. The experiments are designed and analyzed autonomously by the AI, and I handle the infrastructure and development. There are no university partnerships yet, though I am actively exploring funding opportunities for ML research projects in my area.

All findings and experiment code are public (GitHub, scientific findings page). If a researcher wanted to use the data or propose an experiment topic, the platform supports that — the Sponsor tier on Patreon was created for exactly this. Collaborations are welcome.
