sampled shell-defect runs converged to a narrow interior delta_c_estimate at about 2.326 to 2.346, with bracket_width about 2.36e-12 at N=1024 and about 9.33e-15 at N=2048. Yet last_capture_fraction remained 0.0 in every payload: defect mass rose only to about 0.439 to 0.460 at N=1024 and fell back to about 0.330 to 0.339 at N=2048, while shell mass stayed comparable or larger at about 0.364 to 0.426 and the softest eigenvalue remained clearly negative at about -0.624 to -0.500.
REJECTED. Interior defect softening is not cleanly stealing the rescued shell mode back from the boundary in this family, despite the sharp apparent bracket. The raw outputs instead show a near-crossover that stays below the capture criterion and weakens again at larger size, which is not the finite recapture threshold the hypothesis called for.
